Warrant Officer Steve Shirley

Station Commander RAF Waddington joined family, friends and work colleagues of retiring Warrant Officer Steve Shirley to thank him for his 36 years of service to the Royal Air Force.

WO Shirley joined the RAF over 36 Years ago. During his service Steve has worked in many roles, has deployed many times and has completed a significant number of years as an instructor. He was also pivotal in creating the RAF Fire Service Museum for which he was awarded the MBE for his endeavours in establishing and sustaining this excellent tribute to RAF Fire Service heritage. 
WO Shirley is a highly respected firefighter and is regarded by many as the fountain of knowledge. He has been responsible for many of the current senior leaders of this trades’ initial training and has nurtured and developed many more of the leaders within the trade. He leaves with a heavy heart and will be sorely missed. He will not be resting on his laurels and continues to work to secure the future of the Museum.
